Hi-therm Sustainability Lintel Shortlisted for 'Commercial Innovation of the Year' | IG Lintels

IG are delighted to announce that our Hi-Therm Lintel has been shortlisted as one of the finalists for ‘Commercial Innovation of the Year’ at the Construction News Awards 2014.

Our Hi-Therm lintels use a unique, patented combination of glass-reinforced polymer (grp) and galvanised steel to create a lintel with thermal characteristics that outperform all others, greater corrosion resistance than stainless steel lintels, the ability to support loads equal to that of a standard or heavy duty steel lintel and removing the need for the insertion of a DPC.

The Hi-Therm Lintel bonds the internal and external walls together by spanning the intervening gap and contributes towards the achievement of the Fabric Energy Efficiency (FEE) standards required by the Code for Sustainable Homes. It can be manufactured to suit different cavity widths, making it ideal for a wide range of different building types.

Moreover, the Hi-Therm Sustainability Lintel is an impressive 500% more thermally efficient than a comparable steel lintel. Its unique patented design incorporating steel and GRP means that, when used to support the cavity wall construction, it significantly minimises thermal bridging or heat loss through the wall. This innovative new lintel, approved by the British Board of Agrement (BBA), has an extremely low thermal conductivity performance, which contributes towards its Psi value of 0.05 W/m•K.

The Keystone Group culture is based on innovation and the company is constantly developing new products to meet and exceed the needs and expectations of customers, so we are naturally delighted to have our Hi Therm Lintel shortlisted under the ‘Commercial Innovation of the Year’ category.

The Construction News Awards 2014 will take place on the 17th July in the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
